If you surrender your problem with the idea of receiving some particular solution, then you have not surrendered, for to surrender your problem means literally to take no thought; it means to hand it over and without anxiety to wait for whatever happens.

MEDITATION in ancient days was practiced as a vital part of daily living. In most ancient cultures it began with the early morning worship of the sun. The sun was but the symbol of that Great Light which man hoped to find within himself. After seeing the visible sun he would close his eyes and search for the inner sun, for the inner Light of the Atman. The practice was a necessity of life in those days and it is still a necessity.

It is the greatest gift you can give anyone. If you give this bread of Spiritual Truth to those who hunger, what greater service can you render them ? In that fashion you are fulfilling and helping to fulfill the purpose of material incarnation. When conditions are ripe, then reveal the Truth, thereby earning for yourself a good destiny.

The means used are then nothing more than thought and feeling. We scatter our thoughts in a reckless manner, and we let our emotions change with every few minutes; the power that might be retained by their concentration is usually lost. Our minds are therefore in a continuous state of vibration, and but rarely at rest. These are the real causes why we are so tied to the material world that we are blinded by it, and miss the spiritual reality that awaits our attention within the region of the Soul.
